During the Vision show in Stuttgart from October 8 to October 10, 2024 Teledyne Adimec and Euresys showed the Imagination second year demonstrator at the EMVA booth.
This demonstrator showed a use case for GenDC. This use case demonstrated an improvement in how image information can be sent together with the image on which that information is applicable.
Sometimes you want to sent information about an image together with that image. For example you might want to label the image with framecount information, a timestamp or the exposure time at which it has been captured.
Without GenDC, information about an image can be sent together with the image by encoding it as binary data in the image pixels. However, this would always mean that the actual image data needs to be partially overwritten by the binary encoding of the image information. This would therefore lead to loss of image data. By using GenDC the information about an image can be sent with the image without image data loss. This is only one example of GenDC.
GenDC can also be used to handle more complex image formats more easily. Think about 3D image’s or hyperspectral images.
