As part of the International Standards Meeting, a technical meeting of the committees GenICam, USB3 Vision, GigE Vision, Camera Link HS and CoaXPress. AIA, EMVA and JIIA together, in October 2013 in Schongau, Germany, there was a CoaXPress plugfest. For more overall details on the meeting, there is a nice article from Vision Systems Design: http://www.vision-systems.com/articles/2013/11/international-machine-vision-standards-meeting-sees-a-number-of-key-developments.html
CoaXPress
Plugfests continue to be held during Vision shows and technical meetings. As a time for manufacturers of cameras, frame grabbers, software applications, etc. to “plug” together. It is an efficient way to look for compatibility and make all of the products better. It is also an opportunity to address questions and discuss new ideas to implement.
The focus of the CoaXPress discussions was the 1.2 release, which is targeted for Q4 2014. Other topics were of faster speed (10 Gbps and 12.5 Gbps per cable), data striping to cope with cameras faster than one PC can handle, forward error correction to correct any occasional bit errors on the link, and support for GenICam events.
Other Interface Standards
Talks within the GigE Vision committee included support for Truesense Imaging sparse color filter in the pixel format naming convention (PFNC) and the preparation to introduce 3D data support in GigE Vision. The next GigE Vision release 2.1 is planned for November 2014.
At the USB3 Vision committee meeting, a number of open issues were discussed for the 1.0.1 standard release, which is scheduled by the end of 2013.
During the Camera Link HS committee meeting, the group agreed on several speed-related topics with a release of Revision 2.0 planned for May 2014.
The next International Standards Meeting will be held in the first half year 2014 in North America.
